Tips and tricks for visiting Oogie Boogie Bash in 2021! I went opening weekend to Disneyland’s Halloween event and had a fantastic time. The night is filled with Halloween decor, rare characters, and plenty of Disney magic—oh, and free candy!
If you’re going this year, I highly recommend starting off with a general strategy. Otherwise you might end up missing out on something incredibly fun! The night isn’t very crowded so you don’t need to plan move by move. However, I do recommend reading these tips before you go:
Early Checkin
Don’t forget that every Oogie Boogie Bash ticket allows for early entry to Disney California Adventure beginning at 3pm. The lines can get a little long in the afternoon, but it’s worth waiting for some extra time in the park! Once you enter the park, you’ll see a line to get your wristband, map, and candy bag.
Bring Your Own Bag
Even though Disneyland gives you a complimentary bag for candy, it’s really not big enough. So I highly recommend bringing your own bad to fill up on the goods! Collect candy throughout the night in treat trails (you can find their location on the map below).
No Virtual Queue
You can ride the new Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure ride without a virtual queue or boarding pass. Starting at 6pm, you can line up for this attraction in Avengers Campus without a boarding group. The line was listed around 35 minutes throughout the night, but we only waited 10 minutes!
Frightfully Fun Parade Viewing
Disney’s Halloween Parade runs throughout the park and occurs twice each night: 7:45pm and 10pm (subject to change, so double check during your visit). There’s plenty of space, so you only need to show up 15 minutes before the parade starts. I recommend standing near Carthay Circle.

Treat Trails
Take selfies with Disney Villains and bag candy in these uniquely decorated areas. Everyone seems to rush to the newer treat trails first (like Agatha Harkness in Avengers Campus). Visit the Treat Trails after you’ve walked through Villains Grove, and you should have plenty of time to see them all. Just know that villains that appear in the parade (like Cruella) won’t be in their treat trails during these times.
See Villains Grove
Disney Villains come to life here in colorful ways through special effects, amazing lighting, and sound! Villains Grove begins at sundown and the line gets incredibly long after that. I highly recommend heading to Villains Grove right after the first parade ends.
PhotoPass
Your Oogie Boogie Bash ticket comes with complimentary Disney PhotoPass downloads! This means you can link photos taken by Disneyland photographers and on the rides to your Disneyland app. Once they appear, you can save them without watermarks to your phone for sharing!
