Disneyland’s Critter Country Is CLOSING Temporarily in May

On May 1st, Critter Country is closing at Disneyland to make room for the highly anticipated Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ride. Among the magical changes, two new shops will emerge: Ray’s Berets—taking over The Briar Patch—will sell headwear, apparel, accessories, toys, and more. In addition, Louis’ Critter Club takes over the left side of Pooh’s Corner for apparel, home goods, and other merchandise. Pooh’s Corner will still sell confectionaries including the popular Tigger tails. At night, the land will come alive with new lighting packages featuring fireflies, illuminating the area with a magical glow.

The closing of Critter Country on May 1, 2024 marks the beginning of an exciting chapter in Disneyland’s history. While an official reopening date has yet to be announced, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure debuts is expected to debut in the fall or early winter later this year. During this transitional period, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh will undergo closure alongside Critter Country, although the Hungry Bear Restaurant will remain open.

Reflecting on its history, Critter Country has been a cherished part of Disneyland since its opening on November 23, 1988. Originally known as Bear Country, it underwent a transformation to accommodate the construction of Splash Mountain, evolving into Critter Country to encompass both bears and the new critters inhabiting the attraction. Throughout the years, the land has maintained its refreshing ambiance, characterized by tall, shady trees and rustic buildings nestled amidst them, offering visitors a delightful retreat into a cool forest setting.
