Which Disneyland Magic Key Should You Get?

Which Disneyland Resort Magic Key should you get?

A Disneyland Magic Key is an annual pass that grants guests access to the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. Introduced as a replacement for the previous annual pass system, Magic Keys offer various levels of benefits and access to the parks, catering to different preferences and budgets. With a Magic Key, holders can enjoy multiple visits throughout the year, along with perks like discounts on merchandise, dining, and special event tickets. It’s essentially a ticket to endless magic—with a required theme park reservation.

Magic Key Types

Disneyland offers four tiers of Magic Keys, each with its own set of benefits and price points. The first tier is the Inspire Key, offering the highest level of access and benefits. Inspire Key holders enjoy included parking, up to 20% discounts on food, beverages, and merchandise, and are only blocked out around Christmas and New Year. Next is the Believe Key, which has more blockout dates than the Inspire Key, 50% off parking, and 10% discounts on food, beverages, and merchandise.

The Enchant Key is the third tier, with more blockout dates—usually on Saturdays and holidays—but still providing substantial savings on select purchases. You’ll also receive up to 10% discounts and 25% off parking in the Toy Story Lot. The Enchant Key is also blocked most of the summer. Finally, the Imagine Key offers the most affordable option with more blockout dates. The Imagine Key is blocked every weekend, holiday, and during the summer but receives the same discounts as the Enchant Key.

So you may be wondering how many visits you need to make a Magic Key worth it. The truth is, that number depends on when you go, which parks you visit, and if free parking makes sense. The easiest way to know is, if you’re going to visit on the weekends, you should go with an Inspire or Believe Key. If you can visit during the week, then you likely want the Enchant Key. Just keep in mind that the latter is blocked during the summer and most holidays.

Final Note

You may be able to upgrade your Magic Key at the Disneyland ticket booths later. However, this is only available if the Magic Key you want is purchasable. For example, if the Believe Key sells out, you cannot upgrade to it from the Imagine or the Enchant Key. If you do upgrade, you’ll need to pay the difference upfront, even if you’re already doing payments. However, you can upgrade your Magic Key annually, thirty days before it’s set to expire. You can choose any pass during this time, even if they are otherwise sold out.
